Last month I came across the Ipsy website and decided to subscribe. I mean, who doesn't love beauty samples, and for $10 a month I get a really cute bag filled with 5 different samples to try. From what I hear you sometimes even get full size products. Sounds like a great deal to me.
The theme for this month's bag was 19 Reasons. There are about 20 different samples available every month so you never know what you're going to get. Here is a picture of what was included in my bag. (I forgot to take a picture so this one is courtesy of This Smiling Heart blog)
Here are the individual items:
Nourish Organic Face Lotion
I have to moisturize every day so I'm a little pick about what I use, and this stuff is great. I was a little skeptical at first because it's so thin, but it works great. Because it's so lightweight a little goes a long way, and it doesn't leave my face feeling greasy. And to top it off, it smells great.
Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair deep conditioning mask
To me, this was the best product in my bag. I tried it out last night, and I am in LOVE. It smelled great in the little tub, but once I put it on my hair the smell kinda bothered me. And it makes your hair feel a little strange when you rinse it out. The product really started to show itself when I blow dried my hair. My hair is usually kinda wavy and frizzy when I'm done drying it, but after using the mask it was soft and straight. I didn't even need to use my flat iron when I was done. Today my hair is very soft and shiny.
proactiv Mark Fading Pads
My bag came with 5 of these pads and so far I've used 2. They do have salacylic acid in them so they can be a little harsh on the skin. Because of my pcos I tend to break out on my jaw line a little, and these pads seem to be helping a little with that. My skin tone is a little more even today, also, but I don't know if the moisturizer has anything to do with that, or if it's thanks to these little pads. You have to be careful not to go over the same area more than once with these things or you will make your face burn. Not fun.
MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm in Fiesta
This is a lightweight balm that packs a lot of color. I don't care for the fiesta color because it's just too pink for me. It doesn't look as pink in the pot (same as pictured), but when it goes on your lips it's pretty bright. The balm itself is nice, and I would probably use it in a lighter or different shade.
Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow in Pearl
This pencil is defined as an eye shadow, but the tip is actually the size of a liner, too thin to spread over your eyelid without lots of rubbing. The pearl shade I received (same as pictured) is a very light and pretty shade with a little glitter to it. There's not much in the sample, basically the tip of color you see in the picture is the sample, so I haven't tried it as a shadow since one eye would use most of it. I have lined my eyes with it and it goes on very smooth and the glitter just adds a pop. I lined my eyes with my regular liner at the lash line then used this to line the waterline and it was pretty.
I wish there had been a few more makeup products in my first bag, but over all I was very happy with it. I'm already looking forward to February's bag. If you love getting to try different types of beauty products before buying, then I highly recommend Ipsy. Go check it out!
