Well, It's not official until I have my first appointment with him, but it looks like I will have a new Dr. The meeting with his nurse yesterday went very well she was really energetic and fun to talk to. This Dr has a 70% success rate so you can imagine how excited I am. The only thing they ask is that I lose weight. I was already epecting that so I really wasn't surprised when it came up. They want me to lose atleast 20lbs. She said they don't expect me to just magically lose the weight as long as I have lost even a few pounds every time I come in that is good enough. They just want me to show that I am taking this as seriously as the Dr is. That's not a problem, I can handle this. I have done it before, I can do it again.
I got a Weight Watchers points list and cookbook from my sister so I am going to use that to jumpstart all of this. I am not too worried about it because I have been losing weight on my own, just very slowly. Like sometimes just .2 lbs per week, but hey, losing is losing. It's already starting to get hot here so I told hubby that we need to start going to the mall every day after work so we can walk in the a/c. Now I know why all those other people walk at the mall. It's too friggin hot outside. No one wants to walk in 100 degree weather. It's not that hot yet, but it will be before too long.
We can go ahead and schedule our first appt if we want to, but we are trying to decide if I should take out some insurance. I know that insurance won't pay for most things for infertility, but the lady we talked to in the financial said Blue Cross is actually starting to take pay for some stuff. Also, if I take insurance I may not be able to schedule until July since that is when my next pap is due and they won't pay for it before that. The nurse said I may be able to call them and tell them about my history of abnormal paps and I might be able to get them to let me get my exam done early. The insurance should also cover my first visit because it would be considered a gyn visit for no menstrual period and not for infertility. She said they also pay for the HSG I will have to have. I will have a $500 deductible, but that procedure is like $2000 so it would be worth it. The plan I am looking at also covers well baby exams.
Hopefully I will know something in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait to get started!
